Instant Whey Pro is the product most closely tied to Reflex Nutrition’s reputation. It was one of the first high-quality whey proteins made in the UK when it launched, and three decades later it’s still the brand’s signature protein. I went through the spec sheet, the ingredient list, and a stack of independent buyer reviews to see whether it earns that reputation today.
What’s actually in the tub
Instant Whey Pro blends whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, and milk protein concentrate. A 30g scoop delivers 24g of protein, which works out to 80% protein by weight. That’s a genuinely high concentration for a product that isn’t a straight isolate.
Per scoop, you’re also looking at roughly 103 to 108 calories, 0.5g of fat, 0.9g of carbs, and 0.5g of sugar. Reflex adds DigeZyme digestive enzymes and a Bacillus Coagulans probiotic strain (LactoSpore), which is meant to reduce the bloating some people get from standard whey.
It comes in five flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Banana, Salted Peanut Caramel, and Strawberry & Raspberry. Sizes run 900g (£34.99) or 2.2kg (£69.99), and it contains milk and soya, with possible traces of gluten and egg.
What buyers are actually saying
The most consistent praise across independent reviews is mixability. Multiple reviewers describe the powder dissolving instantly, even with just a fork, with no clumping in a shaker or a smoothie. That tracks with the “Instant” in the name.
Taste opinions are more split. Several reviewers rate specific flavors highly for sweetness balance and texture, describing them as smooth rather than chalky. At least one reviewer flagged flavor intensity as the weak point compared to more heavily sweetened competitor brands, so if bold flavor is your top priority, temper expectations slightly. On the brand’s wider Trustpilot page (around 4 stars from roughly 3,000 reviews), the recurring theme is that people who buy Reflex protein tend to keep buying it.
How it compares to the rest of the Reflex lineup
Reflex’s own comparison chart puts Instant Whey Pro squarely between the entry-level 100% Whey (21g protein, £26.99 for 720g) and the more expensive Isolate Pro (25g protein, £79.99 for 1.8kg). If you want the cleanest possible macros regardless of price, Isolate Pro edges it out. If you want the best balance of protein content and cost per serving, Instant Whey Pro is the middle ground most buyers land on.
Against outside competition, Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey sits at a similar 24g protein per serving with a wider flavor range. The bigger differentiator for Reflex is that it’s manufactured in-house in Brighton under Informed Sport testing, rather than through a third-party contract manufacturer. Should you buy it
If you want a UK-made whey with strong mixability, a clean ingredient list, and third-party anti-doping testing, Instant Whey Pro is an easy recommendation. Go in expecting a subtler flavor profile than heavily sweetened budget brands, and pick a flavor based on the specific reviewer feedback for that flavor rather than the product as a whole.
