The Front Entry XL is PTLOM’s most straightforward box: no lid, no corner-fitting shape, just a tall, one-piece stainless steel pan with a low curved opening. At $129.99, it’s also the model that shows up listed on Walmart’s marketplace, which is usually a sign a product sells in real volume.
I went through the product spec sheet, PTLOM’s FAQ, and a wide sample of buyer reviews on and off the brand’s own site to see what this specific box gets right and where it lets people down.
Size and build
The Front Entry XL measures 22.8″L x 14.9″W x 13.7″H, with a 6-inch curved entry cut into the front wall. It’s made from one piece of food-grade stainless steel, which means there’s no seam where litter, urine, or bacteria can get trapped the way they do in a molded plastic box.
PTLOM markets it as suitable for cats and even rabbits of all sizes, and the tall, seamless walls are the whole point: they’re built to stop litter from being kicked out by multiple cats sharing the box.
What buyers are actually saying
Across PTLOM’s own reviews page, ratings sit at 78% five-star out of 809 total reviews. That’s strong, but not spotless, and the negative reviews follow a clear pattern rather than being scattered complaints.
One buyer managing seven cats wrote: “Perfect solution to messy cats… Now they’re limited to one area. Easy to clean up, cats like it. A little pricey but worth it.” Another said: “Very pricey… but cleaning is so easy, look good and will last forever.” A third, managing 22 cats across four PTLOM boxes, called it “the perfect solution” for large male cats specifically.
The recurring negative isn’t about function, it’s about price: multiple reviewers independently used the word “pricey” before saying they’d buy it again anyway. A smaller number of reviewers on Trustpilot and Walmart report rust spots developing over time. PTLOM’s own FAQ addresses this directly: clean with plain water only, since cat urine is acidic enough to wear down the coating if harsh cleaners are added on top of it.
Cleaning and upkeep
Maintenance is simple by design: rinse with plain water, no chemical cleaners. Buyers consistently describe the actual scooping and wipe-down as fast, usually just a few minutes. Stick to plain water for cleaning, budget for the higher upfront price, and skip the corner model if easy scooping access matters more to you than a tight fit in a small bathroom.
