The H2 is HIFI WALKER’s best seller, and it’s the model almost every review thread points to first. It’s $119.20, carries a 90% average rating across 66 reviews, and runs an ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC chip that usually shows up in players costing much more. I went through the spec sheet and a stack of independent reviews to see if it earns that reputation.
What’s under the hood
The H2 runs an ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC with native DSD64/128 decoding and PCM playback up to 384kHz/32-bit. Rated SNR sits at ≥107dB, with THD under 0.005%. On paper, that’s a legitimate mid-tier audiophile spec sheet, not a marketing number pulled from nowhere.
Output is 70mW through the headphone jack and up to 1.5Vrms on line out, with output impedance rated for 16Ω to 150Ω headphones. That covers most portable headphones and IEMs without needing a separate amp.
Battery, storage, and build
The 1500mAh battery is rated for roughly 10 hours of continuous playback. Storage starts with a 64GB microSD card included in the box, and the slot supports up to 512GB if you want more room.
Build is a high-density zinc alloy CNC case at 141g, with a 2.0-inch non-touch IPS screen and an ALPS scroll wheel for navigation instead of a touchscreen. Reviewers consistently describe it as solid rather than plasticky for the price.
What buyers are actually saying
On the product page, 80% of the 66 reviews are 5-star and 18% are 4-star, landing at a 90.0 average. Buyers repeatedly mention “great sound and a sturdy device” and detailed vocals with good instrument separation.
The recurring complaint is software. Playlist creation and menu navigation get described as usable but dated, and Bluetooth connection consistency varies enough that several reviewers say they prefer wired listening.
Independent testing backs up the on-site scores. Audiophile Heaven placed the H2 in its “Hall Of Fame” list, describing the sound as lively and natural with deep, well-rounded bass. The reviewer noted the H2 held its own against the $340 Shanling M3X on dynamics, and beat the similarly priced Surfans F20 on noise floor.
How it compares
Inside HIFI WALKER’s own lineup, the H2 trades the H20 Ultra’s touchscreen and balanced output for a lower price and a simpler physical interface.
