The Rapoo VT2 Max Gen-2 is a 53-gram wireless gaming mouse selling for $55.59, and it currently sits at 19 reviews with 18 of them at five stars. I went through the spec sheet and the actual buyer feedback to see if that rating holds up under normal use, not just a first-week honeymoon period.
What’s actually inside it
The VT2 Max Gen-2 runs a PixArt PAW3950 Ultimate sensor with native 30,000 DPI, expandable to 45,000. It supports an 8,000Hz polling rate over both the wired USB-C connection and 2.4GHz wireless, which used to be a spec reserved for mice twice this price.
The optical switches are rated for 120 million clicks and skip the debounce delay that mechanical switches need. Weight is 53 grams plus or minus 3, and it uses Rapoo’s self-developed A HUB software for DPI adjustment and button mapping.
What buyers are actually saying
One reviewer who owns a Glorious Model O said the VT2 Max Gen-2 is noticeably lighter and that battery life held up for two full weeks without a charge. Another wrote that it “beats every mouse I’ve had,” pointing specifically to the optical switches and battery life. A third mentioned the customer service experience being unusually responsive for a budget peripheral brand.
That’s a small sample size at 19 reviews, so treat the 95% five-star figure as a strong early signal rather than a guarantee. Nobody in the reviews I read flagged tracking accuracy or connection drops, which are the two complaints that usually sink a budget wireless mouse.

It ships in six colorways: red, violet, yellow, raspberry pink, black, and white. The box includes a USB-C cable, a wireless dongle, and grip stickers, and the mouse is compatible with Rapoo’s optional wireless charging dock if you want to top it up without unplugging a cable every time.
How it compares
Rapoo also sells a standard VT2 Gen-2 for $33.99 with a slightly slower PAW3398 sensor and Omron mechanical switches instead of optical ones. If budget is the only concern, that’s a reasonable downgrade. The Max Gen-2 earns its extra $22 through the newer sensor and the optical switch’s click lifespan.

If you want an 8K polling, sub-55g gaming mouse without paying flagship prices, the VT2 Max Gen-2 is one of the easiest recommendations in Rapoo’s whole catalog. The review sample is still small, so I’d keep an eye on the count growing before treating 95% five-star as a permanent number.
