Out of everything Skin and Senses sells, one product has more reviews than the rest of the catalog combined: the Fearless Mama Belly Butter, at $32 with a 4.95 out of 5 rating across 622 reviews. I went through a large chunk of those reviews, plus the full ingredient list, to see if the hype actually holds up.
What it’s made of
The unscented version lists cocoa butter, aloe butter, coconut oil, shea butter, mango butter, argan oil, watermelon seed oil, and vitamin E. All three of the butters (cocoa, shea, argan oil) are certified organic. The Luminous scented version adds a phthalate-free fragrance and nothing else.
That’s a short list for a product marketed as a daily-use belly and body butter. It’s also why the brand can skip preservatives entirely: there’s no water in the formula for bacteria to grow in.
What buyers are actually saying
A 4.95 average across 622 reviews is a genuinely strong number, especially at that volume. It’s the single most-reviewed product anywhere on the Skin and Senses site.
The recurring theme in the reviews I read wasn’t just about stretch marks. It was texture and scent. One reviewer, Ashley S., wrote that it “smells incredible and feels incredible, truly feels like butter.” Another, Tatiana L., said she’d “used these products for all 3 of my pregnancies” and highly recommended it. A third reviewer, Melissa P., called it something she “couldn’t recommend more.”
Does it actually prevent stretch marks?
Here’s the honest answer straight from the brand’s own FAQ: the butter does not remove existing stretch marks. What it claims to do is help fade existing marks toward your natural skin tone and keep skin hydrated enough during pregnancy to reduce the odds of new ones forming.
That’s a more honest claim than a lot of stretch mark products make. No topical product can guarantee zero stretch marks, since genetics and how fast your skin stretches play a bigger role than any cream.
How to use it
The brand recommends applying it twice daily to your belly, breasts, and buttocks, massaged in until fully absorbed. Reviewers who saw the best results kept using it after birth too, not just during pregnancy.
One thing worth knowing before your first jar arrives: this is a butter, not a lotion, so it’s temperature-sensitive. It can melt in a hot car or a warm bathroom and firm back up once it cools. That’s normal, not a defect.
How it compares
Against Skin and Senses’ own lineup, the belly butter edges out the Fearless Mama Belly Oil on review volume, though both share a nearly identical rating. Against Bio-Oil, the most obvious mainstream comparison, you’re trading a synthetic-oil formula for an organic plant-butter one at a similar price point. I laid out that full trade-off in Skin and Senses vs Bio-Oil.
Should you buy it
If you want a pregnancy-safe body butter with a short ingredient list and hundreds of reviews backing up the reputation, this is the easiest pick in the Skin and Senses catalog. Just remember the return policy: skincare purchases are final sale unless the order arrives damaged or wrong, so it’s worth trying the unscented version first if you’re worried about fragrance sensitivity.
